Windfall Agency downtown Missoula office

Represent Montana

Windfall Inc. is seeking energetic, personable Exhibit Staff to bring Montana’s presence at the Great American State Fair to life during the America 250 national celebration in Washington, DC.

This immersive activation invites visitors to experience Montana through hands-on and visual storytelling, from a dinosaur bone dig to a campsite installation, mining history elements, and a hero video highlighting rodeo and outdoor recreation. Exhibit Staff are the face of Montana on-site: welcoming guests, guiding them through the experience, and making each interaction engaging, informative, and memorable.

Key Responsibilities

Visitor Engagement & Experience

  • Welcome visitors and serve as an approachable, knowledgeable guide through the exhibit
  • Share stories and insights about Montana’s landscapes, culture, history, and outdoor experiences

  • Assist guests with interactive features, including:
  • Dinosaur bone dig experience
  • Lead collection kiosks (e.g., signing up for travel guides and road trip packs)
  • Clearly explain how activities work and keep lines moving smoothly

Exhibit Upkeep & Flow

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing space throughout the day
  • Monitor crowd flow and help manage lines to ensure a safe and positive experience
  • Reset activity areas as needed to keep them guest-ready

Team Collaboration

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable being on your feet for extended periods and working outdoors in summer conditions
  • Previous experience in events, tourism, hospitality, education, or customer service is a plus

What Makes a Great Fit

You’re naturally curious, friendly, and energized by meeting new people. You can read a crowd, adapt your approach, and keep things running smoothly without making it feel scripted. You’re just as comfortable helping a kid dig for dinosaur bones as you are chatting with an adult about travel ideas and you take pride in creating a welcoming, well-run environment.

Compensation & Details

  • Competitive hourly rate $30/hour
  • Travel, accommodations, daily per diem, and transportation in/around D.C. are provided
  • Must be available for scheduled shifts throughout the full activation period, including some early mornings, evenings, and weekends
